President: The PTA President is the liaison between the parents, staff of our school, and our community. You must be available for one board meeting per month, including announcing PTA meetings via signs on gates and e-blast communications (konstella), communicating with other board members about agenda items, writing the agenda, making babysitting arrangements, providing food (usually pizza) for kids and running the meeting. You will need to be present at most, if not all, events sponsored by the PTA and oversee all fundraisers. Monitor the progress before and during the event or fundraiser to make sure everything is going smoothly.
Executive Vice President: The EVP’s primary responsibility is to assist the President, be available for one board meeting per month and run meetings in the absence of the President. Manage the PTA calendar of events in coordination with the Principal and President. Assist with the email correspondence person for PTA communication to classroom parents. File permits for events.
VP of Volunteers: The Vice President of Volunteers needs to be available for all monthly board meetings. They will be responsible for collecting and coordinating volunteers for events.
VP of Membership: The Vice President of Membership needs to be available for all monthly board meetings. They will be responsible for setting up our yearly membership drive, keep track of all members. They shall assist with nomination forms and voting of the new PTA Board members in the Spring.
VP of Communications: The Vice President of Communications needs to be available for all monthly board meetings. The officer shall also be the email correspondence person in charge of PTA communication to school families. They are also in charge of Konstella and social media communications for the PTA.
Secretary: The Secretary needs to be available for all monthly board meetings. It is the Secretary's duty to record the minutes of each board meeting.
Treasurer: The Treasurer needs to be available for all monthly board meetings. The Treasurer is responsible for keeping permanent records that track gross income, receipts and disbursements of the association, including the number of members and dues collected. Chair the budget committee and prepare the budget for adoption by the PTA. Pay all bills as authorized by the executive board or the association. Be aware of deadlines (including postmark dates) for all financial transactions. Secure two authorized signatures on all checks. Deposit money immediately and give receipts. Prepare and present a Treasurer's Report at every association and executive board meeting. Maintain continuous and direct communication with the president regarding finances. Advise board members of the status of the treasury and their individual budgets.
Academic Achievers: Leads programs that celebrate and encourage student academic success by organizing activities that promote a culture of learning and achievement, such as Family Science Night and the Book Fairs. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Campus Beautification: Organizes and leads efforts to enhance the school’s outdoor and indoor spaces by coordinating volunteer projects, planning landscaping and clean-up days, and fostering a welcoming, attractive environment for students, staff, and families. Past projects have included the new mural, Zen Zone, and tile projects. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Community Builders: Coordinates events that strengthen spirit within the school and OB community at large. Creating and maintaining business relationships for donations within the OB community. Community Builders is responsible for setting up Family Dining Night locations each school month. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Expressive Kids: Supports creative growth by organizing opportunities for students to explore and showcase the arts through performances, exhibits, and hands-on activities. Coordinates the Spring Art Night, usually coincides with Open House. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Fall Festival: Usually our first big fundraiser of the year, Fall Festival is held in mid to late October. Leads the planning and coordination of the annual Fall Festival by overseeing volunteers, organizing activities, and ensuring a fun, safe, and successful event for students, families, and the community. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Healthy Choices: Promotes student well-being by leading programs and events that encourage fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle habits. They also help coordinate Friday Pops. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Logo Wear: Oversees the sales and distribution of school spirit wear, making it easy for families to show pride and support for OBE. They deliver online orders to classrooms and also host a few pop-up shops per year, often at big events (Welcome Back Picnic, Fall Festival, Art Night, Skate for the Kids). The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Running Club: Encourages physical activity and school spirit by coordinating daily Running Club. The other responsibility is the annual Jog-a-thon, usually scheduled for the fall. Jog-a-thon is one of our biggest school fundraisers. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
Skate for the Kids: Plans and hosts the annual Skate for the Kids event, creating a fun family event that supports school programs and builds community. Skate for the Kids is an off-campus community event coordinated with OB Surf & Skate. The event has skate clinics and competitions, vendors and crafts. Skate for the Kids is another one of our biggest school fundraisers. The committee leader is expected to be available for PTA board meetings to report on events and new ideas for this committee.
